CSC Assigment 3

My name is Karam Idris. This is my blog for assignment 3 of CSC 104. So first I’m going to talk about the effort and work I had put in for this assignment. So first off, I sent an email to the course TA account requesting a topic to research. So I got a reply saying UseNet history. I actually haven’t even heard about this topic before I researched it. So I started researching it right away and soon found out what it was. I spent a few hours doing this till I came up with a good understanding. Then, after researching the computer science topic, I moved on to my personal interest topic. I did the same thing for this part of the assignment as well.

As for my readiness for the exam, I think I am getting ready. I got the previous years exams and would probably do them before the actual exam. I even asked questions about some of the questions which I had trouble understanding. So overall I think I am in better shape for the exam.

CSC 104 Assignment 2: Java

So my name is Karam Idris, and right now I’m working on assignment 2 for CSC 104. It is a much more difficult assignment but it is interesting. At first I was confused with the Java language, then after hours of playing around with it, I got the hang of it. The codes for Java are actually not that confusing but I needed some time to get used to it. After I got the hang of it, I got through much of the assignment without too much difficulty. One thing I had a problem with was constructing circles. But I solved that problem by playing around with Dr. Java. Right now I’m almost done the assignment, I am putting the finishing touches on the movements. So I still need to work on parts 5,6, and 7. I will play around with the movements in order to understand how it works. But right now I have the basic idea of java so it shouldn’t be a problem.

As for my readiness for the exam, I still need to start reviewing. I plan to read all the chapters again and understand what I think is important. I will also try and complete a last year’s exams in order to get a better idea of how the exam will be. I will probably work with my friends and form a study group for the exam because it is worth 45% of the course mark. This is the largest percentage given to one exam in all of my first year course, so I will have pay attention to that.

My name is Karam Idris. This is my blog for assignment 1 of CSC 104. So first I’m going to talk about the effort and work I had put in for this assignment. The idea of picking Skype came really fast, so I reserved the app right away. I had to wait several days before somebody would find something similar and agree to work with me. After I found my partner, the work was easy from there. First we agreed on who is doing what, and by when and so on. Each of us had to be familiar with both softwares and get info on them. We collaborated in getting the pros and cons, reviews, and general specifications of each software. After that, we combined the review into several pages. After we wrote the review, we compared the apps and finally wrote the conclusion and recommendation. I didn’t really have any problems doing this assignment; I just had to learn a few simple things like how to create webpages with Notepad.

I haven’t started studying for the mid-term as much as I wanted to. I skimmed over some chapters and paid attention in class and occasionally took some notes down. But the bulk of the studying, I haven’t really started yet. I have to read all the chapters which will be included on the midterm and review those chapters as time gets closer to the test. I am definitely also not prepared for the final exam as I haven’t even started studying for the mid-term which is coming up in about 2 weeks.
